What are we doing?
We are conducting a Development Charges Background Study.
The purpose of the study is to determine the new development charge rates for the Town of Gravenhurst.
These rates, if approved by council, would take effect Jan. 1, 2025.
What are development charges?
Development charges are fees the town collects from new construction projects to help pay for growth-related infrastructure investments in the community.
These investments include such things as new sidewalks, parks, and equipment.
A public meeting regarding the study will take place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the Town of Gravenhurst Council Chambers at 3-5 Pineridge Gate. The public will have an opportunity to provide comment at the meeting.
The public can also provide comments by e-mail. Comments should be directed to Rob Rosilius, deputy treasurer, at Rob.Rosilius@gravenhurst.ca.
The public has until Oct. 24 to provide comments.
If you are unable to attend the meeting in person you can register to join the meeting virtually by completing a participation form HERE.
Following the review and comment period, council will consider passing a related Development Charges bylaw to implement new rates. This will take place on Nov. 19.
